BMF attracted 14,000 attendees, Walkers thrilled by DJ Alan Walker’s performance

KUCHING: The two-day inaugural Borneo Music Festival (BMF) has ended with a blast and has attracted more than 14,000 visitors.

Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah was delighted to see such a huge turnout and has congratulated the organiser of BMF.

“Congratulations to organisers of BMF for attracting visitors from around the world, both – local and international.

“Both celebrities have millions of followers on Youtube and other social media platforms. Having a festival like BMF will boost the State’s tourism industry”, he said in a Facebook post.

On the last night of the festival on Saturday (Sept 10) at Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV), British-Norwegian DJ Alan Walker performed for nearly two hours and have gotten his fans – ‘The Walkers’ dancing to the beat.

Alan Walker, the international guest artist blew away the crowd by playing Africa’s Toto and mixed it with a modern beat. His deejay mixing and technical renditions were off the charts.

The songs people hear on the radio named ‘Faded’ got crowd singing and dancing along.

Confettis were up in the air, lights were blazing and smoke-machines were released.

It was an electrifying atmosphere that was meant to thrill and mesmerise the crowd of a worthwhile two-day experience.

DJ Alan Walker’s performances started at around 10.45pm and ended around 12 midnight. Leaving fans feeling ‘electrified’.

Earlier, DJ Paul warmed up the crowd, followed by At Adau’s performance which started at 6.30PM and got the audience jumping on their feet. They are well-known among Sarawakians, and their ‘Kasam & Cheese’ and ‘Liling’ item, got the crowd up to their groove.

DJ Myvax, local artist from Kuching wowed the crowd with high level intensity of electronic dance music (EDM) and a remix of the 1994, ‘Zombie’ by The Cranberries.

ThomasJack, the duo danced and sang as they entertained the crowd, the duo brought the crowd back to the 2010s by performing ‘Oppa Gangnam Style’.

Local artist, Priscilla Abby wowed the crowd with her songs sung in Chinese. DJ Alexis Grace brought the crowd to a next level of high energy Electro Dance Music (EDM), which was continued by the famous duo of the two-day event, MC Vibe and DJ Paul.

Singaporean artist, Nicole Chen, had incredible engagement with the crowd . She amplified the crowd’s volume by bringing back a mix adoption of Queen’s ‘We will Rock You’ to the deejay setlist.

The atmosphere was insanely loud and absolutely heart pounding.

The levels did not go any lower as DJ Venom C raised the bar, the Indonesian artist played beats which made everyone’s head bang and hearts vibrate.

Meanwhile, out of the 14,000 attendees, there were 8,000 visitors on its second day from all around the world – Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia, as well as our counterparts from West Malaysia all came to witness and dance along to music.

Just like day one’s performance, 11 acts including DJ Soda entertained the large crowd on the first and final day of the festival.

BMF Live 2022 is brought exclusively by Firmament Event Studio in collaboration with More Entertainment and supported by Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak.
