KUCHING: A total of 100 units of fire extinguisher were given to Segu Bunuk Association.

These units were received during a handover ceremony held at the multipurpose hall of Kampung Punau on Sunday (Sept 20).

Puncak Borneo Member of Parliament Willie Mongin officiated at the handover. In his speech he said fire incidents had caused the victims to lose their homes, properties and in the worst scenario, losing a family member or members.

“Such things can be avoided if proper fire prevention measures are practised,” Willie pointed out.

The fire extinguishers will be distributed to seven villages under the auspices of the association.

He informed that the Samarahan zone will establish a Fire Brigade Community in that area in order to spread public awareness on the importance of fire prevention and actions that should be taken in the event of an emergency.

The activities of this Community will be guided and monitored by Siburan fire and rescue station.
