TATAU: The Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI) is always concerned about the welfare and issues faced by the community, including the residents of the Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PAWE).

SABATI member and Patron of the Tatau Sinaran Kasih Community Rehabilitation Centre Datin Melia Gelen said that in addition to providing donations, SABATI will also address the problems faced by the residents of PAWE, including those in PAWE Tatau.

“I will bring the issues here (in PAWE Tatau) to the attention of the local representatives,” she said during her speech at the TVS & SABATI Joint Programme with PAWE Tatau held recently.

She added that PAWE is an important platform that enables senior citizens to interact with one another and participate in various activities.

“Senior citizens not only need the love of their family members but also the love and care of the surrounding community,” she emphasised.

Meanwhile, the chairman of PAWE Tatau Ahmad Mohd Mokthar expressed appreciation to SABATI for donating computers and printers for the organisation’s use.

He said that PAWE was established with the aim of nurturing proactive senior citizens in terms of mental and physical well-being, as well as fostering camaraderie among the elderly.

“Various activities are held at PAWE Tatau, including crafting, gardening, and the 3M skills, which involve reading, writing, and arithmetic.

“For members of the Muslim faith, there are Quran recitation classes, recitation of Yassin, and Tahlil. As for recreational activities, there are exercises such as ‘poco-poco’ and walking,” he said.
