SARATOK: Community and village heads (KMKK) in Kalaka State Constituency are implementing a bottom-up development approach to ensure all plans and efforts are based on the desires of the people.

Kalaka state assemblyman, Mohamad Duri, said every grassroots leader had been reminded to prioritise the people’s needs first.

“In Kalaka, all development plans are based on a bottom-up approach so that everything is based on the desires of the local folk.

“This is also applied among all KMKK members to ensure that they do not prioritise their own interests but instead prioritise what the people want,” he said.

Mohamad made the statement after a meeting with the KMKK in  Kalaka at his service centre office here

recently.

He explained that the role played by the KMKK was crucial in driving the progress of a village.

“It is routine to meet face-to-face with KMKK, because with frequent meetings like this, all problems can be discussed quickly and the best solutions can be found,” he said.

Earlier, Mohamad visited his old friend Dawi Narawi in Kampung Masjid Saratok.

“He is one of the recipients of a good housing renovation project under  ‘Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Miskin Sarawak (MRP-PPRMS).”

“The people should be grateful for the continuous efforts of the Sarawak government to ensure that the people in rural areas have comfortable and safe homes to live in,” he said.

Mohamad  added that more  Kalaka folk would benefit from the MRP-PPRMS in the future.

The chairman of the Saratok Islamic Welfare Trust Board (Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Islam Saratok or Lakis), Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz, also attended the meeting.
