Brunei delegates visit state’s first cosmetic factory

KUCHING: A delegation from Brunei Darussalam government yesterday spent about an hour visiting the first cosmetic factory in Sarawak, Sophia Taha Holdings Sdn Bhd, here at the Demak Laut Industrial Park.

Led by Ministers in Prime Minister’s Department and Finance and Economy II Minister Datuk Seri Awang Amin Liew Abdullah and Foreign Minister II Datuk Seri Setia Awang Erywan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mohd Yusof, the delegates was met by its managing director, Dayang Sophia Abang Taha upon arrival.

Before touring the factory, the delegates were briefed by its director Ismaily Liu Bujang.

Speaking to the reporters after the event, Sophia said the company would strive to export its products to the world.

“We are currently exporting our products to Japan and hope to expand to Europe,” she said.

Earlier, six members of the delegation visited LONGi Green Energy Technology Co, a China-based company at the Samajaya Free Industrial Zone and paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya.

The one-day working trip was held to foster bilateral ties and expand strategic partnership between Brunei and Sarawak.
