SRI AMAN: Police have detained eight students to facilitate investigations into a bullying case involving their schoolmate at a secondary school.

Acting Sri Aman police chief DSP Zuriawati Zainal Abidin said they received a police report around 5.10pm on June 25 on the incident.

The arrests were made after police managed to identify the suspects through a 14-second video clip.

“All eight students were identified and brought to Sri Aman police station for further investigation.

“We have opened investigation papers under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail sentence of up to 20 years and whipping, upon conviction,” she said in a statement.

Zuriawati also advised the public not to speculate as it may affect ongoing police investigations
