SIBU: The Bumiputera community, especially the Malay/Melanau in Sibu are called upon to expand their knowledge in the field of business so that they can continue to move forward in tandem with the other races.

A Malay/Melanau paramount chief, Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce said they can learn from the Chinese in Sibu who have a lot of business acumen.

“Especially the Chinese who have had business experience for hundreds of years, and maybe even more. We can learn from them and work together to create an atmosphere where we can move forward in today’s business world,” he said when officiating at an Aidilfitri do hosted by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Pelawan branch at its premises in Jalan Bandong here on Monday night (May 23).

Wan Hamid, a prominent Malay/Melanau business figure added that the residents of Sibu, especially in the Nangka area are lucky to have an elected representative in the person of Dr Annuar Rapaee, who has been working very hard to develop the local Bumiputera community.

He said, this could be seen in the efforts of Dr Annuar who has created Bandong Walk to boost the business environment in the area.
“Now you can all see, Bandong Walk is a popular place among both locals and visitors.

“Hopefully, we can open up similar business facilities like Bandong Walk in other areas in the future,” he enthused.
Meanwhile, the event which attended by about 100 guests from various races, was enlivened with karaoke raya song presentations and lucky draws.
