Firemen working to put out the fire that burned down a wooden house at Kampung Sungai Plan, Jalan Tanjung Kidurong on Thursday.

BINTULU: Two wooden houses were engulfed in flames simultaneously at separate locations on Thursday.

Bintulu fire chief Christus Buson pointed out that no casualties reported at both scenes.

The first incident took place at Kampung Sungai Plan, Jalan Tanjung Kidurong involving a single-storey house.

Six firemen from Bintulu station rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call around 7.25pm.

By the time the team arrived at the scene, the house was already destroyed and extinguishing works commenced.

Three minutes after the first distress call, the fire station received another emergency call at 7.28pm pertaining to a wooden house on fire.

Another team was despatched to the scene at Kampung Nelayan Batu Mandi, Jalan Taman Negara Similajau, which is about 24km from the station.

The fire had burned down the house when the team arrived at the scene. Extinguishing works were then carried out to put out the flames.

The cause of both fires is yet to be ascertained.
