MIRI: The selection of Long Lama library as one of the 42 digital community centres in Sarawak, will no doubt help bridge the digital gap between urban and rural areas.

Having said this, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau opined that the centre would help rural folks, especially youths, gain knowledge and acquire skills relevant in today’s world.

“It is definitely (referring to the community centre selection) another milestone for us in Long Lama in order to prepare our people for the state’s digital economy initiatives,” he said today at the launching of the digital community centre (DCC) in Long Lama.

He added that the facilities allow access to technology to folks in Long Lama.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Local Government and Housing and Sarawak Multimedia Authority, Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence and Sarawak State Library.

He urged the community in Long Lama to grab the opportunity to fully utilise the centre to acquire knowledge and skills.
