Chef-de-mission makes surprise visit to Sarawak Sukma Taekwondo Training Centre

KUCHING: Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, the chef-de-mission of the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024 Sarawak, made a surprise visit to the Sarawak Sukma Taekwondo (WTF) Training Centre recently.

Accompanied by Sarawak WTF president Azizul Annuar Adenan, Rentap spent time speaking with all the coaches and the 39 young talents from various divisions, who are participating in the first phase of the PTNS-MSN Sarawak Sukma 2024 Centralised Training Camp. The camp, hosted by Sarawak WTF, took place from May 27 to 30.

He reminded all athletes to maintain their physical condition, train hard, uphold integrity, and discipline themselves at all times.

He also urged the officers and coaches in charge to continuously monitor and evaluate the team’s performance, set goals, and work towards achieving them.

“I am eagerly anticipating the performance of our Sarawak Sukma Taekwondo team. I hope we can win as many gold medals as possible in the upcoming Sukma 2024,” Rentap said on Tuesday (May 30).

Also present during the visit were Sarawak WTF vice-president Then Yit Fui, state technical chairman Grandmaster Tan Check Joon, Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) chief executive officer cum director of Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS), Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, and other dignitaries.
