MUKAH: The Chinese community here still wanted Tellian incumbent Yussibnosh Balo to represent them for another five-year term.

They wanted Yussibnosh to be renominated as a candidate for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to defend his Tellian constituency in the upcoming 12th Sarawak election.

On Monday (Nov 22), Chinese community leaders comprising Penghulu and Kapitan, and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Mukah branch chairman and members briefly gathered to show their support for Yussibnosh.

Also joining the gathering at the old town here were chairman and members of some Chinese non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

It is understood that the local Chinese community had given strong support for Yussibnosh in the 11th Sarawak election 2016 and the Balingian by-election in 2014.

It was triggered by the late chief minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem who also gave good support to the Chinese community including in Chinese education in Sarawak.

His successor and other politicians including Yussibnosh continued the late chief minister’s legacy.
