KUCHING: A civil servant was among 15 people arrested by police in an operation on Wednesday. Sarawak Head of Narcotics Supt Sahar Abdul Latif said the arrest came following months of
intelligence work.

He said police raided a detached kampung house, which was apparently a drug den, in Marip Atas, Engkilili, Sri Aman and arrested the 15 persons including the civil servant for drug peddling,
possession and abuse.

He said during their arrest 13 of the suspects were high on drugs. The 13 later tested positive for drugs.

Police arrested a truck driver aged 42 and his wife, 39, outside the house. Seized from the duo were eleven (11) transparent plastic packages containing crystal-like substance suspected to be syabu. Police also found 60 similar packets hidden in a bush near the house.

The couple will be investigated under Section 39(A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and if found guilty, they can be jailed for up to five years and given whipping.
