BALINGIAN: A community policing empowerment workshop was held at Rumah Vincent Luat, Sungai Sebetong near here recently.

Among many things, It was aimed at updating information on the village security and development committees (JKKKs) while empowering them to be more efficient in performing their duties.

Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi said the workshop was important because it would help enhance JKKK knowledge on relevant issues, which were vital in the execution of their daily responsibilities.

“The rationale of organising the workshop is to help yourself, your community, your family and your neighbour,” the former Dalat and Mukah walikota said at the close of the workshop.

It featured talks on management of JKKK in community policing  from Mukah district office; public health awareness (infectious and contagious diseases) from Mukah Division Health Department; security and enforcement from the police; and rabies control and dogs from the Department of Veterinary Services Mukah Division.

At the event, Abdul Yakub also handed over certificates to seven newly appointed tuai rumah.
