KUCHING: The movement control order (MCO) which has been further extended to April 28 is intended to keep the people safe from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Although the people cannot deny that the MCO brings a huge impact on their lives, it is important for them to suck it up and comply with the order.

According to Asean Wok Cafe owner Siti Khadijah Abdul Rahman, she has been complying with the MCO despite its huge negative impact on her business.

“I acknowledge how much the MCO has impacted my business in terms of household income but as a mother, I am much more concerned over the health of my family and myself.

“Thus, I have to compromise and began running my business in takeaways. This is to ensure that I continue to comply with the MCO as well as generating income for my family.

“But of course, we have to take extra measures such as wearing face masks, hand gloves and using hand sanitisers,” she told Suara Sarawak recently.

She explained that such measures required her to invest extra capital into her business.

“Nonetheless, I appreciate the assistance by the federal and state governments for entrepreneurs in terms of financial assistance and zero-interest loans.

“With the assistance, it will definitely assist the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro entrepreneurs in terms of liquidity and purchasing arrangements to restarting businesses,” she said.

Printing shop owner Norazryn Abdul Rahman describes the action by both the federal and state governments as “reasonable in this trying time”.

She praised the new government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin which had only assumed office recently.

“They had done a lot in just a short period of time especially in facing the Covid-19 threat. The same goes to the state government which has responded similarly. This shows that both the federal and state governments are fighting the pandemic hand-in-hand which will only bring good to the people,” she said.
