BUNGIN: The process of building the three long-awaited new mosques in Saribas costing RM20 million is expected to proceed smoothly.

Deputy Minister of Community Welfare Mohammad Razi Sitam said all the projects were approved by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg under the People’s Project.

“It involves the construction of the Debak Sub-District Mosque worth RM12 million and the Kampung Bungin Mosque worth RM5 million, both of which were approved in 2018.

“The other is the Kampung Dit Mosque costing RM3 million which was approved in 2020.

“So, after this, I hope the next process will go smoothly,” he said when attending the Kampung Bungin Level Aidilfitri reception at Dewan Pahlawan Tujuh, yesterday (May 10).

The event organised by the Kampung Bungin Islamic Welfare Trust Board in collaboration with the Kampung Bungin New Mosque Construction and Development Committee and the Nur Islam Mosque Management Committee was also attended by former Saribas assemblyman Datuk Dr Wahbi Junaidi who is a board member of Yayasan Budaya Melayu Sarawak, chairman of the Kampung Bungin Islamic Welfare Board Dr Zulwali Kifli Merawi, Islamic religious officer of Betong Division Ustaz Mohd Isselahuddin Kameri and Betong Division Temenggong Pi’ee Alwi.

Razi explained that the government through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) would build two new mosques in Kampung Serembang and Medang.

On the Seruai Muslim community cemetery, he suggested that the Kampung Bungin Islamic Welfare Trust Board take over its management.

“This is because it is closest to Kampung Bungin. I hope the board can restructure the management of the graveyard,” he said, adding that the existence of the Kampung Bungin Islamic Welfare Trust Board was something to be proud of.

He also announced the approval of the tire scheme maintenance project in Kampung Bungin worth RM500,000 which is currently in the tender process.

On the Anjung Usahawan project in Kampung Bungin which has been approved, Razi hoped that it could be speeded up.

He said, there were a handful of residents who were unhappy with the slow implementation of some government projects.

“We as a society must understand the implementation process or standard operating procedures (SOP) of the government.
