The drugs suspected to be methamphetamine seized by police from the suspects.

SERIAN: Police arrested a couple on suspicion of being involved in drug-related activities in Kampung Koran Mawang last Friday.

Serian district police chief DSP Aswandy Anis who confirmed the case, said that the arrest was made by a team of Serian Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) in an unnumbered house around 7am.

“The team arrested the couple both aged 29 in a bedroom in the house.

“A brown bag was discovered under the bed. Inside were two transparent plastic packets containing crystalline substances suspected to be methamphetamine, with an estimated weight of 10.91g,” he said in a statement.

He said the seized drugs with a street value of RM1,200, were believed to be distributed to buyers around Serian.

Aswandy added that one of them who had four past drug-related records including drugs abuse, tested positive for drugs while the other tested negative.

Both individuals are currently remanded at Serian police station for four days to facilitate investigations under Section 39(a)(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
