Councillors in Saratok take oath of office

SARATOK: A total of 32 members of the Saratok District Council took their oaths of office yesterday (April 6) for the 2023–2025 term, with 21 being newly appointed and 11 being reappointed.
 
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil.
 
Out of the 32 appointed councillors, 16 were from the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), eight from the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), five from the Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), and three from the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).
 
In his speech, Dr Penguang stressed that the councillors play a role in assisting in the development of their respective areas and obtaining information at the grassroots level.
 
He also urged them to work together to successfully carry out programmes and activities organised by the local council and to continue working hard to carry on the legacy of their predecessors.
 
Also present were Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri, Krian assemblyman Friday Belik, Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir, Saratok district officer Haron Mahidi, Saratok District Council secretary Liam Entili, and a representative of the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government permanent secretary Nasseruddin Abdul Jabar.
