‘Countdown to Ramadan’ attracts 150 villagers

SRI AMAN: Yayasan Amal Malaysia Sarawak Branch for the first time held Ambang Ramadan (Countdown to Ramadan) at Kampung Pangkat here, recently.

The programme received the full support from the village Futsal Court Committee, Seberkas Unit and the village development and security committee (JKKK). The event was held in the village for two days.

The programme co-ordinator, Zahari Deli said the programme is helping NGOs to establish missionary programmes and welfare at the village and its surrounding areas.

“This event although small, managed to attract 150 villagers,” he said.

To add merriment to the event, Zahari said they also held a colouring contest for children aged between 7 and 10, Quran Explore Race for adults and futsal competition for both teenagers and adults.

Also held was ‘Forum Perdana Ambang Ramadan’ which is the highlight of the event and presentation of prizes and trophies to the winners of the various competitions.

“I hope that the programme will be able to brighten up the fasting month of Ramadan this year and enhance rapport among the villagers,” Zahari said.

The village chief, Haji Mohammad Suhaili in his speech thanked the NGO for holding the event in the village.

“For me this programme is a good initiative for the villagers to face the fasting month of Ramadan,” he said.
