Covid-19: Day 6 of no infections

KUCHING: No new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the state for the sixth consecutive day today.

Today is the second day of Gawai Dayak, which is a state holiday.

The State Disaster Management Committee said the total number of Covid-19 cases statewide remained at 552 cases since the first positive case reported on March 13.

SDMC also noted that 11 Covid-19 patients have been discharged, bringing the total number of patients discharged to 519 or 94.02 percent.

“Ten patients were discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one patient from Sibu Hospital.

“There are 18 new person under investigation (PUI) cases and all 18 are currently awaiting laboratory test results,” it said in a statement.

Of the 339 samples collected in Belawai, Tanjung Manis, 337 had tested negative while two are awaiting laboratory test results.

Another 273 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) were checked into various hotels throughout Sarawak for their mandatory 14-day quarantine.

This brings the number of quarantined PUS to 1,032 in 38 hotels statewide.
