KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said Muafakat Nasional (MN) never crossed his mind because all that matters to him now is tackling Covid-19.

He said he did not know much about MN when asked to comment on Umno’s decision that it would not join Perikatan Nasional (PN), but would focus on strengthening MN with PAS.

“I don’t know much about MN, I only know Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS). I don’t really know (what is happening over the other side),” he told reporters in a press conference after launching the Kuching City’s 32nd anniversary celebration yesterday.

Abang Johari, who is GPS president, said politics must be put aside now as what was important was to tackle Covid-19.

“My mind is on Covid-19, which is why I don’t have any thought (of MN).

“We have to look after this Covid-19, because it is serious as Kuching is now a red zone,” he said.

To a question on how GPS would ensure that its members would not jump to other parties as what had happened in Sabah, he said that was Sabah’s issues.

“That is Sabah’s problem; let them be … your questions are just assumptions. I cannot answer questions that are based on assumptions.

“We will see how it goes (party hopping), but we (GPS) don’t hop,” said Abang Johari.
