MIRI: The suspect involved in a crab’s hunting spot incident on Thursday morning in Bakam, has been detained on Friday night.

It was alleged that the suspect in his 70s was responsible for the incident, which caused another man to be injured in the commotion over a crab’s hunting spot.

The suspect was picked up by a team of Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel led by Inspector Fredly Nuing from a house in Ocean Park here around 10.20pm.

The police also seized a knife, believed to have been used in the attack.

On Thursday around 10am, an elderly man was reportedly injured after he was assaulted and stabbed following the disputes over the spot for crab hunting.

The assailant had fled the scene after causing the injuries, and a police report was lodged the next day (Friday afternoon).

Following the report lodged, police made the arrest.

The suspect is currently being detained under police custody to assist their probe into the case.

The case is framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, provides for imprisonment of up to three years, a fine or whipping or any two of the punishment.
