Dayawa Maludam clinch runners-up spot

MALUDAM: The Dayawa Maludam’s Under 12-squad made a good start of the season by emerging as runners-up of the 12th Edition Milo Hidup Bola Futsal Carnival 2017 which ended on Saturday.

Although the squad have to contented with the runners-up spot after losing to PFA KKT 1-3 via a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw at full time, their achievement was far better than expected before the tournament.

According to Dayawa Maludam team manager, Awang Sarbini Awang Sulaiman, he is was very happy of his team’s achievement in reaching the final and became runnesr-up.

It is even sweeter when both their two under-16 teams made it to the semi-finals.

“So what we have achieved this time is a huge achievement for the entire Dayawa team,” he said.

Awang Sarbini added that initially he only targeted at least to qualify into the semi-finals.

“With the success of Dayawa Maludam Under-12 futsal team to be the runners-up, it was the best performance shown by all the players. However, it’s not our luck to win the championship,” he said.

With the winning, Dayawa Maludam Under-12 took home a cash prize of RM600, medals and Figos items.

The team will represent Sarawak to the Grand Final of the 12th Edition of Milo Hidup Bola Futsal Carnival 2017 in Kuala Lumpur on November 26.

Interestingly, the Grand Finals offers the champion RM15,000, a trophy, medals and Figos items while the runners-ups will get RM10,000, medals and Figos items.

Meanwhile, third and fourth places will each receive RM7,000, medals and Figos items.
