DBOS has RM3.4b in total deposits

KUCHING: As of October 23, the total deposit received by Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS) has amounted to RM3.4 billion, said Assistant Minister for Corporate Affairs Abdullah Saidol during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) here yesterday.

He added that the credit facilities approved and released were RM320 million and RM244.2 million respectively and a number of applications received were now being processed.

“The breakdown of deposits are from Governmen-Linked Companies (GLCs) with RM7.5 million, local authorities (RM17.6 million), public sector (RM3.4 billion), statutory bodies (RM23.2 million), which totals up to RM3.4 billion.

“The credit facilities applications are now being processed and that involves strategic projects in the state and these are ongoing and the bank is adopting the best practices like any other financial institution in processing these applications,” he said in reply to questions from See Chee How (PKR-Batu Lintang), Chong Chieng Jen (DAP-Kota Sentosa) and Ali Biju (PKR-Krian) in the august House.

Saidol added that the biggest deposits came from the public sectors including companies and entities such as SESCO, GLCs, SEDC, ASSAR and various other agencies.

“The details are not with me now but I am ever ready to make available and furnish the information. But for the time being, I am not able to disclose the interests,” he said.
