MIRI: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) new dialysis centre in Permyjaya  here received equipment worth RM624,000 from Yayasan Petronas.

Yayasan Petronas handed over 12 units of hemodialysis machines, one unit of Rinser machine and two units of Dialyzer reprocessing machines in a simple ceremony witnessed by Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.

Lee thanked Yayasan Petronas, saying: “This is the beauty of Miri, we have caring corporate citizens.”

Sitting on a three-acre land, the dialysis centre began construction in 2019 and was completed this year despite the constraints posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

When fully operational, the centre is capable of serving some 240 patients.

Currently, equipment is being commissioned   in stages and once completed, would await final inspection and approval from the Branch of Control of Practice of Private Medicine   in order to obtain an operating licence.

Also present at the ceremony were Petronas Sarawak general manager Zulaihi Mantali, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd Sarawak senior general manager Roslan Abdul Ghani and stakeholder and administration manager Suryani Dohan.
