KUCHING: Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah received a courtesy call from Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Women Branch at her office here today.

The delegation was led by DBNA Women Branch chairlady Theresa Udam, who extended an invitation for Fatimah to officiate at the association’s upcoming appreciation dinner held in honour of Bidayuh women of Sarawak.

“We want to unite all the Bidayuh women, and this is the first congregation of Bidayuh women working in the state or federal civil services.

“This also includes housewives and single mothers. They are all invited to our appreciation dinner,” she said.

Theresa mentioned that the event would also serve to thank the previous DBNA Women Branch chairlady, who had contributed and dedicated fully towards the non-governmental organisation (NGO), particularly the women branch.

“And that is why our theme (for the dinner) is ‘To cherish the legacy, thrive in the present and design the future’.”

Meanwhile, Fatimah said she looked forward to working together with DBNA Women Branch in a collaborative effort to empower women, especially through the state government’s digital economy initiative.

The appreciation dinner will be held at the DBNA multipurpose hall on Sept 19.
