KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau chief Wilfred Yap will monitor the construction works to upgrade earth drains at Kong Phin Road here to concrete drains, ensuring that the works are completed in full compliance with the technical drawings and specifications under the contract.

This is in light of complaints received from concerned residents at Kong Phin Road regarding the quality of the construction works.

“Their spokesperson surnamed Kon had requested for a proper inspection by officers from Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to ensure that the ongoing construction works by the contractor are in accordance with the technical drawings and specifications under the contract,” he said today.

Following the residents’ request for assistance, Yap had immediately brought up the matter to the attention of MPP, and he, along with officers from MPP’s Engineering Department, had inspected and assessed the situation to see what could be done to efficiently resolve the complaints.

“During the inspection at the construction site, officers from the Engineering Department of MPP discovered that the contractor had not carried out some parts of the upgrading works in accordance with the technical drawings and specifications.

“In view of this, the officers from MPP instructed the contractor to demolish certain sections of the partially completed works which were not carried out in accordance with the technical drawings and specifications,” he said.

Yap, who is also SUPP Kota Sentosa Branch chairman, said he would remain fully committed to serving the public, highlighting and trying to resolve issues affecting the community.

“SUPP PCB is ever ready to lend a helping hand to anyone facing problems or who come across issues of public interest but are unsure of how to handle them.
