SIBU: An express bus driver escaped with minor injuries when the bus he was collided with a four-wheel drive (4WD) at Jalan Dr Wong Soon Kai here yesterday (March 30).
It is understood that the 4WD driver had lost control of his vehicle which swerved into the opposite lane and collided with the bus.
The bus driver was on his way to town for refuelling and there were no passengers when the collision occurred.
Meanwhile, according to Sungai Merah Bomba chief Abdul Mutalib Jaafar, a team of firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 8.11 pm.
“The bus driver was taken to the Sibu Hospital for further observation and treatment before the team arrived. But the whereabout of the 4WD driver is unknown.
“There was an oil spill due to the collision,” he said when contacted yesterday (March 31).
The operation ended at 9.29 pm after the firefighters cleaned up the spill and debris on the road to ensure the safety of other road users.
