Farmer killed in crash

The location of the collision that claimed the life of a 61-year-old farmer on Friday evening (Aug 7).

SIBU: A farmer was killed after his motorcycle collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle at Jalan Sibu-Durin on Friday evening (Aug 7).

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said that the incident occurred around 4.30pm when the victim and the driver were travelling to Kanowit.

“The driver was driving on the right lane when it suddenly collided with the victim’s motorcycle who was changing lanes.

“As a result of the collision, the victim who was not wearing a motorcycle helmet, was pronounced dead by paramedics from Kanowit Hospital at the scene,” he said in a statement.

The victim was identified as Bada Agong, 61, from Rumah Philip Kayak, Sungai Durin.

Alexson noted that the body was then taken to Kanowit Hospital for further actions and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
