KUCHING: The search for farmer Joseph Basir who went missing last Tuesday went into its third day yesterday without any sight of him.

Lundu police chief DSP Wong Chee Keong when contacted said the search for Joseph was called off yesterday although with a wider search perimeter he still could not be found.

Wong added that the search will continue today.

Joseph had gone fishing to Stunggang River about three kilometres away from Kpg Gerunggang with two relatives on Tuesday morning.

A search party comprising firefighters holds a meeting before resuming the search.

When the two relatives returned at 4pm the same day, Joseph was not with them.

According to the duo, Joseph had yelled at them and they presumed that he wanted to return home earlier.

However, that night when Jospeh failed to return home his daughter lodged a police report.

Following the report, Police, Civil Defence Department, Fire and Rescue Department personnel had been combing the area looking for Joseph.

He was last seen clad in a green long pants, yellow long sleeves shirt, a black hat and rubber shoes.
