KUCHING: A female black Dachshund was found with its upper jaw missing at Lorong Merdang Gayam, Taman Uni Garden, Kota Samarahan on Tuesday morning.
A volunteer for Save our Stray (SOS), Andy Teo went to the location to pick up the abused dog after being alerted on the discovery.
The canine was then taken to Animal Veterinary Centre here for treatment.
When contacted, Teo said the dog appeared to have been abused by its owner for several months. After examining it, he said the canine was suffering from tick bite fever but its internal organs were fine.
“It was pleased to see us and was very thirsty. At the moment, it can only eat soft food,” he said.
Teo said the dog would undergo a surgery to replace the upper jaw once it recovered from its illness and they would seek public donation to cover the cost of the surgery.
