SIBU: Eighty-seven heads of Iban households received food baskets from the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government on Saturday (June 19).

The Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sibu Branch said in a statement on its social media page that the food baskets under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance Package 6.0 (BKSS 6.0) were handed over at the Solar Driving Academy.

According to a spokesperson, the recipients were Dayaks who rented houses in the Bukit Assek and Pelawan constituencies and had lost their jobs due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the movement control order (MCO).

“SDNU Sibu Branch received many requests for help from Dayaks in the area. They said they had lost their jobs and found it difficult to continue living.

“Yesterday (Saturday), SDNU Sibu Branch could only distribute 87 food baskets,” he said.

The spokesman thanked Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew for helping to get the 87 BKSS 6.0 food baskets.
