Free books on personal recollections launched

SIBU: Two former assistant ministers from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) on Saturday (Feb 19) jointly launched their Mandarin books entitled, ‘My Collection’ and ‘My Reflection’ respectively at a local restaurant.

These writers are former Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health Datuk Dr Soon Choon Teck, 79, and former Assistant Minister of Local government and Food Industry Datuk David Teng Lung Chi, 77.

According to Soon, his book was a collection of articles on his work with various associations and SUPP that he served until his retirement in 2011.

Among other things, he also wrote about certain social issues in Sarawak especially Sibu as well as tourism following his tours of many countries.

He stated that over 100 copies of ‘My Collection’ were printed to be distributed free of charge.

On ‘My Reflection’, Teng said it was a compilation of articles on his experiences in politics and certain factual events.

“What I am trying to do is passing down lessons to the younger generation.

“My main purpose is to leave behind certain experiences for people to learn from, politically or socially,” he said.

He said over 500 of his books had been issued free of charge.
