KUCHING: Sarawak State Library in collaboration with US Embassy, Kuala Lumpur is organising ‘Spiderman Homecoming’ free movie screening for members of the public in conjunction with the ‘Night at the Library’ programme on 24th February (Saturday) from 7:00pm until 10:00pm at the library’s auditorium, a press release stated yesterday.

This free movie screening session is an activity which showcases suitable film that has moral values for children to learn and reflect from besides having good time watching the movie.

Movie viewers should come early to the library in order to secure a good spot as limited seats will be available at the Auditorium. Besides ‘Spiderman Homecoming’ movie screening, other exciting activities will also be held for students at the same time that night such as Info Hunt session and TJ Bot workshop.

Info Hunt session is an interactive session whereby students are taught the correct and proper way on how to find study and research materials in library. This session targets students who are facing major examination this year such as PT3 students.

TJ Bot Workshop introduces high school students to cognitive technology and AI (Artificial Intelligence). From this workshop, high school students will be given the opportunity to build robots easily and quickly.

By carrying out activities such as Movie Screening, Info Hunt and TJ Bot Workshop, the younger generations could benefit and learn from these sessions. Hopefully, the Sarawak State Library can instil the idea that beneficial activities can also be conducted at night-time and change society’s common perception that night-time is not a suitable time to carry out activities that are centred towards learning.

One of the objectives of this programme is that Sarawak State Library will be able to attract the younger generations to continuously be part of libraries in seeking and gaining knowledge. This programme is also in line with Sarawak State Library’s role in promoting lifelong learning to its users.

Several food trucks will be available on site during the night of the event and lots of attractive prizes are up for grabs from the lucky draw session. Admission is free!
