KUCHING: The suggestions and opinions proposed by the Children Representative Council (MPKK) are being taken into account in an effort to resolve issues and make the people of Sarawak prosperous, said Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

The Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development said the five main issues listed by MPKK are in line with the issues given focus by the Sarawak Social Development Council (MPS).

“They also did a little research and suggested solutions from their perspective.

“Therefore, I see this as a good thing because they have raised one of the issues that MPS has also given attention to,” she said when met by reporters at the MPKK Meeting programme at Citadines Upland here yesterday.

In that regard, Fatimah added that with the input provided by MPKK, her ministry would use the matter from the children’s perspective to solve problems not only from the top down but also from the bottom up.

“Their opinions and suggestions are important, especially if it involves children’s issues and as I said, getting involved in this kind of business is very good,” she said.

In a related matter, Sarawak MPKK chairman Abdul Muhaimin Abdul Razak, 16, informed that his side had presented five issues and resolutions at the programme.

“Among them are mental health issues; substance abuse; driving a vehicle without a license/under age; nationality of the child; and social symptoms among teenagers,” he explained to reporters.

For the record, a total of 26 MPKK members from all over Sarawak were involved in the programme and also received certificates from
