KUCHING: The General Operations Force (GOF) through its two units Public Order Riot Units (PORU) and Tiger Platoon are always ready to secure public order.

This was said by state police commissioner, Datuk Azman Yusof, when he attended a GOF demonstration on facing public order threats at PGA Batu Kawa, yesterday.

According to Azman, GOF Sarawak was always ready to face any unexpected circumstances involving public order.

“The PORU team and Tiger Platoon have been trained to secure public order issues such as riots, kidnappings and other kinds of threats.

“The GOF supports the state Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) contingent. They add to the strength of PDRM to secure public order,” he said.

On the day’s demonstration, a total of 190 GOF officers and personnel showcased how the PORU and Tiger Platoon handle riots and kidnappings.

On a new police station at Teluk Melano in Sematan, Azman said it would get the proper number of personnel as needed.
