KUALA LUMPUR: A one-year-old baby needs assistance to raise RM5,000 to cover the cost of surgery at the National Heart Institute (IJN), Kuala Lumpur.
According to Persatuan Anak Borneo Semenanjung (ABS), baby Hayderson Emanuel Chia who now lives in Skudai, Johor is a child of a Sarawakian couple.
“Hayderson is the youngest of five children of Catherine Bujoh from Kapit and Harisson Watt Chia (father) from Betong.
“Harisson works in a factory, while his mother is a housewife who look after their other children aged 14, eight, six and five respectively,” ABS said in its Facebook post yesterday.
The association said the RM5,000 for the surgery is an estimated amount.
“So far, the federal government through the Ministry of Health (MOH) has provided a subsidy of RM2,500.
“The remaining RM2,500 will have to be borne by the couple,” said ABS.
