Henry aims to bring in railway services

LAWAS: GPS candidate Datuk Henry Sum Agong intends to fulfill the dreams of the people here to have railway links with Sabah.

The incumbent for the constituency, said he had held discussions with the Sabah government to bring the railway line to Lawas.

“The railway extension has yet to reach Sipitang … it is hoped that after the discussions with Sabah, the train facilities can be brought to Lawas,” he said.

He said this at the launching of the Sarawakku Sayang programme at Kampung Long Tuma, Lawas on Tuesday (Nov 8).

In the forthcoming election, Henry, who has held the Lawas seat for three terms, is facing another well known personality in the Lun Bawang community, Baru Bian from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

In addition to Henry and Baru, the tussle for the seat also includes Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Japar Suyut.

There are 33,655 voters in the constituency.
