SIBU: A motorcyclist lost his life following a hit-and-run accident along Jalan Wawasan yesterday (Nov 14).
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, who confirmed the case, said the incident happened around 3.40 am.
The 48-year-old victim was riding solo when an unidentified vehicle struck him, causing severe injuries.
Following the incident, the callous driver fled the scene, leaving the severely injured man behind.
“The rider was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Sibu Hospital, and his body was taken to the hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.
Zulkipli said police are seeking public assistance and those with information about the incident, are urged to contact traffic investigating officer Insp Muhammad Shafiq Dihanan at 016-4942092.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
