DALAT: The district hospital here now has seven haemodialysis machines thanks to the Sarawak Ministry of Welfare which contributed one unit on Saturday (Oct 16).

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the additional facility would benefit more patients.

She said the machine was one the six units bought by the Sarawak Ministry of Welfare this year at a total cost of RM249,000, with each unit costing RM41,500.

The other five machines are placed at Sarawak Heart Centre (two), and one each at Saratok Hospital in Betong, Sarikei Hospital and Marudi Hospital.

“Besides Dalat, the patients who are coming for haemodialysis treatment here also come from Oya, Mukah and Selangau,” she said at the handover of the machine to Dalat Hospital director Dr Voon.

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman revealed that the Haemodialysis Unit at Dalat Hospital began with two machines only, courtesy of a corporate figure who donated them in 2011.
