KUCHING: Newly-minted Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki has vowed to ensure the march of progress continues in his constituency for the benefit of the people.

Ibrahim Baki delivers his speech during the event.

He plans to build on the legacy of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who was Satok assemblyman previously.

“I have already discussed with Senior Works Minister and Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof of the development plans for Satok.

“God willing, Satok will be developed as Sarawak moves towards achieving the status of a developed state and high-income society by 2030,” he said.

He said this during the 12th State Election Thanksgiving and Appreciation Ceremony for Satok constituency at Pullman Hotel here on Saturday (Jan 29) evening.

On another note, he said Abang Johari, who had served Satok since 1981 had brought much development to Satok.

“This is not only in terms of physical development but also ensuring the peace and harmony of the multiracial people living in Satok.

“And this reflects Abang Johari’s good leadership. Even though Satok is situated in the city centre, thus far there are no commotions,” he said.

As such, he said he and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Satok pledged to continue the legacy of Abang Johari to bring development and ensure the people of different backgrounds continue to live as one.

Also present at the event were, Abang Johari’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Fadillah, Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Federation of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian divisions Chinese Associations president Datuk Richard Wee.
