SERIAN: Form Five students from secondary schools in Serian district are currently hard at work preparing for the upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

They aim to score well in the core subjects, most notably History.

New Sarawak Tribune spoke to some of the students on how important it is to them and whether learning in the school is much better compared to learning at home.

WENDY CHIN JIA XING, 17

“History is very important for us to get the certificate and if we begin to love the subject, immediately it would be fun to us. I love learning it in class because it is much easier to understand. If I do not understand, I would immediately ask my teacher, and I hope I will pass the examination with flying colours.”

BELTHAZAR JIM, 17

“I am from SMK Padawan, and for my SPM, I am aiming for at least one or two As. Learning in school is so much better because teachers can quickly explain the things that we learn but may not fully understand. Studying at home is also a good idea, but we must find the time between study and play. We got to be responsible.”

ENRIQUE NGUYIEM ALEXIOUS, 17

“I like History subject but at the same time, it is also difficult. We should love the subject first then we can learn it meaningfully. For my SPM I target to get one A. Among all of the subjects, I will probably score As in Mathematics, Bahasa Malaysia and English. I hope I can get A for History.”

BEATRIZ JUANALYN LARRY, 17

“I am from SMK Siburan. I love learning in school because I am able to share my knowledge with my friends while learning together. If there is anything I do not understand, I can directly ask my teacher. This year, I target three As in the SPM examination. The subjects would be Bahasa Malaysia, English and History. I hope I can make my parents proud through my result later.”
