SARATOK: Every Jawatankuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Kampung (JKKK) or Village Security and Development Committee should be involved in the planning and development of its respective area.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said the Sarawak government had given the trust to the JKKK to find out what is best for its area.

“The JKKK, led by the village chief or tuai rumah, should at least plan and apply for the development project, and not only sit down and wait for projects to come in.

“Apply for the development projects in their respective areas because the government has given the trust.

“That being said, I also would like to ask for the JKKK to develop their own areas based on their priority and current needs,” he said on yesterday (Jan 18).

“I am confident, you at the grassroots, are more aware on what should be prioritised.

“At the same time, I urge you to continue playing your role in ensuring harmony and unity in the community.
