
KUCHING: About 20 teams took part in the first jombola competition in the state.
It was hosted in conjunction with the 1000 League Programmes at Kuching Division Level as well as the National Sports Month in October.
The Director of Technical Jombola Association Malaysia cum Deputy President of Jombola Sarawak Dr Ong Kong Swee was overjoyed by its successful debut.
“This is the first jombola competition held in Sarawak, we are very happy that the number of participants was overwhelming even though it is a new sport.
“We were happy to see everyone enjoying the sports of jombola even though some did not know the rules of jombola.
“After a few matches they responded that the jombola was easy to play.
“Those who wish to know more about the sports of jombola should visit the jombola.com website,” he said during the the competition which was held at Petra Jaya Kuching Multipurpose Hall on Saturday (Oct 22).
The first Jombola competition was dominated by teams from Murum, Bintulu, who won all the top categories. They were champions and runners-up in every category.
