BINTULU: The Kembara Merdeka Keluarga Malaysia (KMKM) convoy saw the participation of members from the Bintulu Big Bikers Association.

The convoy’s journey to Rh Ijau Undah, Sungai Sebemban, Kuala Tatau started from Promenade Hotel here with the flag-off done by Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming early Monday (Aug 29).

The convoy, aimed at promoting the Jepak DUN Merdeka@Komuniti Program, was also enlivened with a colouring competition for those aged over 40, and a Komuniti Keluarga Malaysia (KKM) car decoration competition.

Bintulu Big Bikers Association deputy chairman Azman Drahman said participation in the convoy was a first for the association.

“Previously, we only participated in a National Month convoy in Bintulu. We are always open to accepting an invitation to participate in any convoy activity in the future, and not limited to Bintulu areas only.

“A national convoy like this means a lot to me because I can remind the community of the sacrifices made by the previous generations and also to instil a sense of patriotism in everyone.

“The convoy members’ diversity (different culture, race and religion) is also a source of pride.”
