KUCHING: Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Malaysia has not slowed down its CSR programmes in Sarawak.

Its latest project is a donation of RM18,000 to various charitable homes and organisations throughout the state.

In the spirit of Chinese New Year, KFC shared the joy to four charitable homes that received donations from KFC Malaysia as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, as a gesture of gratitude and goodwill.

The recipients were Dyslexia Association of Sarawak (RM5,000), Sibu Methodist Children’s Home (RM4,000), Perkata Sarawak Kuching (RM4,000), and Kuching Autistic Association (RM5,000).

KFC East Malaysia marketing senior manager Joey Siaw said the donations were collected from Tabung Penyayang KFC — a unique fund-raising programme from the collection of donation boxes in every KFC restaurant outlet in Malaysia by encouraging customers to add their own contributions.

“KFC gives donations over every occasion in conjunction with festivities such as Chinese New Year, Gawai Dayak, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Christmas.

“Last year, a total of RM83,000 was distributed to 18 different charitable homes in Sarawak over the four occasions,” she told reporters yesterday at KFC Plaza Merdeka.

Other CSR initiatives by KFC include KFC Project Penyayang, which provides meals to more than 150 charitable homes four times a year.
