KUCHING: The successes achieved by Konsortium Bumi Consultants & Services Sdn Bhd is a source of pride for the Dayak community, said Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

The Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs stated that the company is the flagbearer in the construction industry for the Dayak community.

“Winning awards from year to year proves that the company did not come this far by chance but based on merits and performances.

“I wish for the company to continue to succeed. I hope there will be more people as well as companies to have similar successes in the future,” he said.

He said this when attending Konsortium Bumi 16th anniversary thanksgiving dinner last night at a leading hotel here.

Nanta commended the company for providing opportunities and embarking on charitable services through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

He said opportunities like internships and trainings are important for the young who are looking to excel in the construction industry.

“I know the company has done a lot in its CSR programmes as well as internship programmes for many Dayak professionals be it engineers or architects who were provided opportunities to further their trainings.

“Moreover, the company have been generous in construction of churches and many other charitable services. I hope there will be more to come as long as it does not jeopardize the company’s business,” he said.

Noting how the COVID-19 pandemic, economic crisis, and global inflation problems are affecting the construction industry, Nanta reminded those who participating actively in the industry to deliver their best.

He said while the state government has funding for projects, what’s more important is for the projects to be delivered timely and to the satisfaction of the stakeholders.

“The (challenges) are perhaps due to the rise in cost of construction materials and wages, however you still have to uphold the highest standard of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

“The projects are meant to be benefitting to the people, so abandoned or unsatisfactory projects would only cause inconvenience for them,” he said.
