KUALA LUMPUR: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) received 5,767 complaints related to online transactions from January until Wednesday.

Its Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said items purchased did not reach consumers as well as receiving items not as advertised were the highest contributors to the total complaints received.

“The ministry is constantly monitoring and concerned about the issue … if found guilty of the offences, traders may face content removal and site blocking actions,” he said after launching the AEON 626 campaign at AEON Taman Maluri here yesterday.

Nanta said KPDNHEP had conducted 202 content removals and 182 site blockings against online traders from January to June 3.

He said action under the Price Control and Anti-profiteering Act 2011 and the Control of Supplies Act 1961 could also be taken against errant online traders.

Meanwhile, Nanta said the ministry was in the midst of reviewing the standard operating procedure (SOP) with regard to fitting rooms and would announce the matter after obtaining approval. – Bernama
