KUCHING: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch, the second oldest branch of the political party, is set to commemorate its 65th anniversary.
In a statement, it was highlighted that for 65 years, Kuching SUPP has stood steadfastly alongside the people of Sarawak, advocating for equality, freedom, and a brighter future.
“Established on June 29, 1959, the past and present leadership have tirelessly championed the cause of its members and the people of Sarawak.
“In recognition of the sacrifices made by our predecessors and in gratitude to our comrades who have contributed to the growth of the party, we will celebrate our 65th anniversary on June 29, 2024, with a series of events and an evening banquet.”
The theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Striving for the People, Moving Towards the Future,’ reflects the branch’s commitment to its core mission.
The festivities will take place at the parking spaces located at the branch premises, commencing from 3.30pm to 8.30pm.
Organising chairman Lucas Lim Tee Kiat stressed the importance of upholding the party’s original mission and continuing to prioritise the welfare of the people.
In a similar statement, Lim encouraged party members and comrades to carry forward the spirit of advocating for the people, striving for a brighter future.
“Since 2006, despite numerous challenges, Kuching SUPP and its members have remained unwavering in their vision, determination, and dedication to improving the livelihoods of the people in the constituency and its surroundings.
“An organising committee has been established to coordinate and raise funds for the branch’s daily operations. The committee hopes that party members, comrades, and supporters will continue to contribute to enhancing welfare and social initiatives in the constituency,” the statement added.
