MUKAH: Narcotics police arrested a labourer for possessing suspected  methamphetamine at a petrol station on Sunday.

Mukah police chief, DSP Muhammad Rizal Alias, in a statement, said that the arrest was made around 10.30 am when the 31-year-old man was suspiciously riding his motorcycle around the petrol station.

As a team approached him, the suspect attempted to flee the scene. This prompted the team to use minimal force to arrest the suspect.

“During examinations, the suspect surrendered a green straw tube containing 0.36g of suspected methamphetamine.

“As a result, the suspect and the drugs were taken to the Mukah district police headquarters (IPD) for further action.

“A urine test also found the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he said.

Rizal stated that the suspect had been remanded until Mar 28 at Mukah police lockup to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
