MIRI: A lance corporal was among two people detained by the police for drug abuse during a raid.
The raid was conducted around 11.05am on Monday by a team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following a public tip-off.
According to Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol, the suspect aged 27 and his 23-year-old friend, a civilian, were apprehended during a raid held at a condominium at Jalan Tanjong.
“Police found drugs, suspected to be syabu weighing around 3.11gm, from the suspects’ possession,” he said.
Preliminary investigation revealed both suspects had obtained their drugs from a Wechat application.
“They admitted to be abusing drugs for the past four years,” added Mohd Sabri.
The case is being investigated under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
